Mike Warner, founder of A Passion for Seafood Ltd, is a UK seafood and fisheries consultant dedicated to connecting fishermen with consumers through storytelling. He highlights best practices, sustainability, and traceability while making seafood production more accessible through articles, social media, podcasts, and videos. His work has appeared in Country Life, Fishing News, and other major platforms, and he is a Guild of Food Writers member, shortlisted three times for their awards.
As a trusted industry voice, Mike works with Seafish, The Shellfish Association of Great Britain, The National Lobster Hatchery (where he is a Patron), and Seafood Scotland. He is the UK Seafood and Fisheries Ambassador for Wright Brothers London and Love British Food and recently became a Trustee of the Wright Brothers Sea Change Foundation. In 2019, he introduced a new National Fish and Chip Awards category to spotlight seasonal British seafood.
With 80% of the UK’s seafood exported while a similar proportion is imported, Mike champions local, sustainable fish and shellfish. He believes the UK, as an island nation with rich coastal waters, should strengthen its connection to fishing communities and the marine environment.
