Neil has always been interested in cooking from a young age where he used to always want to be in the kitchen with his mum who is a fantastic cook in her own right.
He started in kitchens in 1994 in the now St Ives institution being ‘The Mermaid Restaurant’. He then carried on with his love of travel and food working in numerous chef roles in the French Alps and also in Australia’s exclusive Margaret River Vineyards.
On his return to the UK he took up the challenge of working at the Award winning Alba restaurant in St Ives where he worked for some 17 years and he became The Head Chef in 2015.
After the Alba’s sad closure he was reappointed as one of The Head Chefs at the Porthminster Beach Café. More recently Neil’s passion for cooking over fire has been taken to another level with him heading up the brand new Fire Kitchen BBQ at Porthminster Beach where he is able to showcase his skill and passion for this style of cookery. The Fire Kitchen BBQ, has become a landmark attraction to guests to St Ives this year and is going from strength to strength with Neil at the Helm.
