A real celebration of all that is great and vibrant about our region’s food and drink industry

Around 12,000 people visited St Ives Food and Drink Festival 2018 (May 11th-13th) where they were treated to delicious produce and expert cookery demos from a range of high profile chefs. A selection of top celebrity and home-grown Cornish chefs took to the chef demo stage, with large crowds watching MasterChef winner Jane Devonshire, Michelin Star chef Simon Hulstone and the renowned Romy Gill and Helen Goh. We enlisted the help of Kim Somauroo and Laura Field who invited a selection of celebrity chefs to appear on Porthminster Beach to demonstrate their cooking skills.

Organisers of the Chef Demo Stage

Kim Somauroo and Laura Field organise and book all the chefs taking part across the St. Ives Food and Drink Festival weekend.

Kim Somauroo is a home economist and private chef. Laura Field is a food photographer and food stylist.

Since graduating at Tante Marie Culinary Academy in 2007, they have collaborated on many exciting projects. Through their work at high profile food festivals such as ‘Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival’ and ‘Taste of London’, they have become friends with lots of the UK’s leading chefs, and have asked some of them to appear at the St. Ives Food and Drink Festival.

St Ives Food & Drink Festival is committed to our town and our beach site and we seek to manage and mitigate the negative impacts on our environment. We commit to ensuring recycling provision across the site, reducing plastic usage as much as possible, developing sustainable travel options, collaborating with like minded people and suppliers, and working with Cornish suppliers, businesses and producers. We seek to maximise the opportunities to create positive impact in the town and for our communities including involvement from local food & drink producers and suppliers, partnerships with local chefs and restaurants, promotion of the town as a whole, skills development opportunities for young people and performance opportunities for community groups.
